Pitt didn’t just win Tuesday night in Morgantown — they overwhelmed No. 12 West Virginia from the jump, cruising to a 23–1 victory behind an explosive offensive showing and steady pitching throughout. The Panthers (25–14) wasted no time setting the tone and never looked back, plating runs in five of the first six innings and effectively putting the game out of reach before West Virginia could settle in.  

After a quick opening frame, Pitt’s bats erupted in the second inning with seven runs, highlighted by a three-run blast from AJ Nessler and a solo shot from Sebastian Pisacreta. That surge was only the beginning. The Panthers followed with an eight-run third inning, capitalizing on timely hits, patient at-bats, and control issues from the Mountaineers’ pitching staff. By the end of the third, Pitt had built a commanding 16–0 lead, turning the contest into a showcase of offensive execution.  

Several Panthers delivered standout performances at the plate. Pisacreta led the charge with two home runs and five RBIs, while Nessler also drove in five runs. Caden Dulin added a three-run homer of his own, and Trey Fenderson chipped in three RBIs, contributing to a balanced attack that saw Pitt tally 13 hits and draw 15 walks. The lineup’s discipline and ability to capitalize on opportunities consistently applied pressure without relying on any single inning alone.  

On the mound, Pitt’s pitching staff complemented the offensive outburst with a composed, multi-arm effort. Seven pitchers combined to allow just two hits while striking out nine, limiting West Virginia’s chances to build any sustained momentum. The Mountaineers’ lone run came in the fourth inning, but by that point, the outcome had largely been decided.  

Despite the lopsided final score, West Virginia (27–10) showed flashes of patience at the plate, drawing five walks and working counts throughout the night. However, Pitt’s early offensive explosion created a steep deficit that proved insurmountable. The Panthers’ complete performance — from explosive hitting to efficient pitching — ultimately defined the night, as they secured one of their most dominant wins of the season.
