Robert Morris opened conference play with a strong showing Saturday afternoon at Joe Walton Stadium, defeating Detroit Mercy 11–6. 

After Detroit Mercy struck first, RMU responded quickly and took control late in the opening quarter, carrying a 3–2 lead into the second. The Colonials extended the advantage with a four-goal second quarter and never looked back, outshooting Detroit Mercy 41–22 while dominating ground balls 50–37. 

Dylan Anderson led the RMU offense with a hat trick, while Calum Brennan added two goals and an assist. Joel McCormick played a key role in the attack with a goal and three assists. 

RMU goalkeeper Nate Fechter finished with nine saves in the win as the Colonials improved to 6-3 on the season and 1-0 in NEC play.
