The Allegheny Badgers battled relentlessly until the final whistle, but the Ashburn Xtreme edged out a 3–2 victory in a tightly contested and physical U18AA tournament matchup at Alpha Ice Complex.

Ashburn opened the scoring late in the first half, as Jackson Pendleton found the back of the net at 18:59, finishing a play set up by Aidan O’Neill and Steven Macik. The Xtreme carried that momentum into the second half, doubling their lead at 6:23 when Jonah Bellis converted off an assist from Braeden Barr.

Allegheny responded with urgency and physicality, mounting a strong push midway through the second half. Luke Dieter cut the deficit to one at 13:35, burying a chance created by Jonathan Holtzman and Benjamin Zierski. The Badgers continued to press, delivering contact at every turn and forcing Ashburn into extended defensive shifts.

With Allegheny pushing late and the net empty, Ashburn briefly regained possession, allowing Jack Reinbold to score an empty-net goal at 0:48, assisted by Carter Faas. Undeterred, the Badgers answered just 14 seconds later when Aaron Holm scored at 0:34 off feeds from Mats Martz and Coby Herron, punctuating Allegheny’s never-quit effort.

Both goaltenders were sharp in a game defined by tight gaps, heavy contact, and disciplined defensive play. Ashburn’s ability to control possession for key stretches proved decisive, but Allegheny’s late surge and physical presence made this one of the tournament’s most competitive battles.
