No. 23 West Virginia closed out its weekend series in dominant fashion Sunday afternoon, defeating Columbia 16–1 at Wagener Field at Kendrick Family Ballpark in Morgantown.
The Mountaineers broke the game open early, highlighted by a grand slam from Matt Ineich in the second inning.
West Virginia jumped out to a 6–0 lead in the second, beginning with RBI hits from Sean Smith and Tyrus Hall before Ineich launched a grand slam to left field that cleared the bases and put the Mountaineers firmly in control.

Ineich continued to lead the offensive charge, finishing the day 2-for-4 with six RBIs and two runs scored.
The Mountaineers added two more runs in the third inning, extending the lead to 8–1, as Ineich delivered another clutch hit that brought home two runners.
West Virginia continued to build its lead throughout the game, adding runs in the fourth and fifth innings before a big eighth inning pushed the advantage even further.
The Mountaineers finished the afternoon with 16 runs on 12 hits while drawing 13 walks against Columbia pitching.

- Gavin Kelly: 2 hits, 2 runs scored
- Armani Guzman: RBI double and sacrifice fly

On the mound, Maxx Yehl earned the win after pitching six innings, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out nine.
Columbia scored its lone run in the third inning on an RBI fielder’s choice from Jackson Brewer.
The West Virginia bullpen closed out the game with three scoreless innings from Joshua Surigao, Weston Smith, and JD Costanzo.
With the win, West Virginia improved to 10–3 on the season, while Columbia fell to 2–7.

The game drew 2,508 fans at Kendrick Family Ballpark on a cloudy afternoon in Morgantown.
